This program can be used from a command line interface, graphical user interface, or with the windows shell integration based. 7-Zip began in 1999 and is actively developed by Igor Pavlov. Cross-platform version of the command-line utility, p7zip, also available.
7z is a compressed archive file format that supports several different data compression, encryption and pre-processing algorithms. 7z format initially appeared as implemented by the archiver 7-Zip. 7-Zip program is available to the public under the terms of the GNU General Public License. The LZMA SDK 4.62 is placed in the public domain in December 2008. The latest stable version of 7-Zip LZMA SDK and the official version 9.20.The 7z format specification file is distributed with source code 7-Zip. Specifications can be found in plain text format in the 'doc' sub-directory of the source code distribution.
